Starting today and continuing in the days to come, you’ll receive a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the awesome time of prayer and conversation that took place. We start with a question from Lou on the ideology of Las Vegas, and an answer from our worship leader Corey.

There are many...think of the names of some of the casinos...
Mirage...which is a dilusion or fantasy
Treasure Island... when is the last time you were on an island with a treasure..
Luxor, New York, New York, Paris... all copies of real cities...
People come here thinking they will make lots of $$$$$$ by throwing it into an one arm bandit. That is what the slots are ... the ads say loosest slots... they mean you loose lots.
The city is full of not only false but fake...

I wonder how much we know about the doctrines of liberalism or laissez-faire. Las Vegas seems to be the place where personal rights take preference over moral rights and it is portrayed as being beneficial for the greater good of the community. Visitors are encouraged to come here to "forget" themselves and be magically transformed into the sovern of their personal paradise for as long as they like. This is the great deception to me.

Las Vegas is a city that says you can have whatever you want whenever you want 24/7 and no one has to know about it. It is a city whose objective is to feed all sinful desires openly and without shame. Las Vegas promotes sin and makes it look glamorous. The ideology of Las Vegas which has influenced our nation is to make greed, promiscuity, immorality, sexual perversion, and alcohol consumption look good and acceptable without any negative consequences. I believe that is why God has chosen this city to change and save, as a platform for His Glory, for where sin abounds grace and mercy abound more! God so desires to change this city from Sin City to Salvation City!

In the book of Acts it talks about how the city of Ephesus. I find many similarities to the city of Las Vegas. In both cities the politics, economy, and the worship of a false god were all intertwined. In Ephesus there was the shrines dedicated to Artemis. In Las Vegas there are shrines dedicated to greed and lust. In Ephesus the Holy Spirit fell upon 12 believers. Next Paul boldly proclaims the word in the synagogue and in the lecture hall. Then extraordinary miracles begin to take place and open repentance took place and people that practice sorcery began to burn their scrolls. The effect of the gospel message was such that it affected the local economy such that the local silversmiths initiated a riot. (Wouldn't that be great if the gospel message shut down a few casinos) Furthermore, the word says that Paul turned large numbers of people in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of Asia to the Lord. It started with a small church of about 12 people who were burning for God and spread throughout the whole province of Asia. Can this happen in Las Vegas?
